NYU School of Medicine encourages intellectual aspiration in fields that intersect with medicine and supports students who choose to pursue additional training in their areas of particular interest. To that end, the school offers multiple Master's Degree programs, and is in the process of developing several more. These programs offer medical students the opportunity to obtain a graduate degree along with their M.D. degree, and offer several potential advantages over pursuing the two degrees separately.
Within official dual degrees, credit overlap is permitted. Therefore, most students pursuing a dual degree will be able to obtain their degrees with fewer credits and in less time (typically 5 years for the two degrees) than the two degrees separately. This will permit a reduction in time and tuition for the two degrees.
Master's Degree programs currently offered as dual degrees include:
- Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management, administered by the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service
- Master of Public Health in Global Health Leadership, administered by the NYU Master's Program in Global Public Health.
- Master of Arts in Bioethics, administered by the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
- Master of Science in Clinical Investigation, administered through the School of Medicine
- Masters of Business Administration in General Management, administered through the Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
