The NYU School of Medicine is uniquely positioned to provide a rich teaching experience on the wards of our teaching hospitals. Most facilities are conveniently located in close proximity to the School of Medicine. The extraordinary diversity of the patient population, including cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, is in itself a robust instructional tool. The impact of cultural competence and community engagement on wellness, prevention and treatment is powerful as students learn to deal with a wide range of pathophysiological dysfunctions, providing students with a greater understanding of global health issues.
