New Fitness Clothing Is Its Own Workout – By Tanya Lewis
Medical students from NYU School of Medicine are creating a new line of athletic clothing that makes muscles work harder by resisting their motion and, as a result, burn extra calories during everyday activities or exercise. The startup, currently called Skinesiology, was awarded $75K in seed money at NYU Stern School of Business’s Entrepreneurs Challenge last April. Medical adviser for Skinesiology J.R. Rizzo, MD, discusses the benefits of the new fitness apparel.
Watch Laura Ferguson, teaching artist of the Art & Anatomy class at NYU School of Medicine, discuss how the class helps medical students appreciate the beauty of bones and body parts through art. The class is part of the Master Scholars Program in Humanistic Medicine, co-directed by Dr. Allen Keller and Katie Grogan.
